About me

Hi, I’m Charmaine! I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training at AmiYoga in Hull and certified in October 2024.

I started practicing yoga at the age of 14, giving me over a decade of experience. Initially, my practice was sporadic and focused primarily on aesthetics and minor mental health benefits. However, in recent years, I have embraced a more holistic approach, living increasingly in alignment with the 8 limbs of yoga.

My recent completion of EMDR therapy for C-PTSD and treatment for ITBS has reignited my passion for life. This journey has fuelled my desire to share the transformative benefits of yoga with others, helping them improve their health and wellbeing.

My passion when I teach shines through when focussing on increasing inclusivity for all – yoga is a practice that should be enjoyed by everyone! My depth of knowledge around adjustments and alignment can shine through when teaching a diverse range of individuals, no matter your age, health, experience or any other difference you may have, I will ensure you feel nurtured and empowered through your practice.

Charmaine is a certified in yoga therapy, offering a variety of classes, including Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, and Power Yoga. Her background in yoga therapy enables her to tailor sessions that focus on making each asana accessible, regardless of experience level or physical ability. Charmaine uses props like belts, blocks, and walls to support students in maintaining integrity in their practice while staying safe. She aims to dismantle the misconception that using props means you’re “not good enough,” encouraging students to embrace these tools for a more effective and safe practice.

At the core of Charmaine’s approach are mindfulness, self-compassion, and inclusivity. She believes in recognizing and working with each person’s abilities rather than pushing against them. This is central to building confidence and growth—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Charmaine’s yoga journey, which began in her teenage years, started with a search for physical benefits but has deepened into a holistic practice that nurtures mental well-being and emotional resilience.

Through her warm, approachable nature, Charmaine fosters a welcoming environment where students can feel at ease, laughing and smiling together as they build trust with one another and with her. This helps break down barriers to openness, allowing students to grow both on and off the mat.

Yoga with Charmaine offers a range of services, including gym classes, group beach sessions (often followed by a refreshing cold dip), one-on-one yoga therapy, corporate yoga, and group classes in a local hall. Charmaine’s approach isn’t just about teaching—it’s about building a community where people can heal, grow, and find balance in their lives.
